THE lengthy judicial system, improper investigation, corruption and envy have altogether put a primary school teacher in Cox’s Bazar in a disastrous situation for ten years. The victim Abu Bakkar, who worked at Rajakhali Faizunnesa Government Primary School, was declared innocent last week by a local court.
The court gave an order to take legal action against the plaintiff, a doctor, and the investigating officer of the case. The court also asked to cancel the suspension order of Abu Bakkar which was issued by the Cox’s Bazar Primary Education Office.
News media said, Mohammad Mudasser Murad, a teacher at Napitkhali Government Primary School of the area, alleged in the case that Abu Bakkar stole Tk 6,000. Along with filing the case, he also complained that Abu Bakkar physically assaulted him. In the verdict, the court issued an arrest warrant against Mudasser and asked the Directorate General of Health Services to take action against Dr Md Saiful Islam, Residential Medical Officer of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital, for issuing fake medical certificate – approving the claim that the plaintiff was physically assaulted.
Abu Bakkar said he was in training at Cox’s Bazar Primary Teachers’ Training Institute along with Mudasser in 2006. A friendly football match was held between the teachers at that time. Based on a dispute that arose during the match, Mudasser locked in a debate with some teachers including Abu Bakkar. The case of Abu Bakkar is the tip of a large iceberg of case pile up with the country’s judicial system.
Abu Bakkar is lucky enough that he gets the opportunity to regain his lost dignity and get free from the accusation of burglary. Filing case to harass people is a common practice in our national politics that intruded in our social structure and made hundreds of fake cases. Until mutual respect, tolerance, perseverance remain absent in national life, society could not practice the norms. Deterioration in national politics that started decades before now entered into the society, where everyone following their rank and file is indulging in corruption. A separate Commission should be there to quickly check false cases filed with the police station or court.
