The palnners of the sensational militant attacks, specially the Gulshan café and Sholakia Eidgah, are still on the run despite the claim by the cops that the arrest of the masterminds was a matter of time.
The msterminds and financiers of 49 recent attacks in country in the last one and a half years could not be traced even after continous hunts by the law enforcers.
Even cops failed to trace masterminds after submitting charge-sheets to the concerned courts in connection with the militant attacks.
Many of the masterminds are reportedly continoues their regular activities in the country and on foreign countries like India and Canada.
In the meantime, members of the law enforcing agencies arrested two teachers of North South University (NSU) and some house owners on charge of patronizing the militant attacks in the city’s Gulshana and Sholakia. But they were not planners of the attacks.
According to police sources, Canadian citizen Tamain Choudhury and his cohorts were the main planners of Gulshan and Sholakia attacks and they also gathered in Kallayanpur for ploting other serious attacks.
The masterminds of the Gulshan and Sholakia attacks already have left the country to avert the arrest in connection with the attacks, sources added.
Several teams along with Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) are investigating the incident to unveil the mystery of the attack, the sources said.
Securuty anlyst Brigadier General (rtd) M Sakhawat Hossain told the reporters that police could not arrest the kingpins of the recent target killings.
Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdul Kaium told the reporters, a good number of people were arrested in connection with the recent attacks, but none of the masterminds.
On July 15, investigators dealing with the dreadful Gulshan terror attack claimed to have identified the mastermind, saying he fled the country at least seven months ago after finalising the operation plan and is now hiding in West Bengal of India.
The mastermind designated two teams for Dhaka and Tangail to carry out reconnaissance before conducting two operations, they said.
Monirul Islam, chief of police’s Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit, said: “We have arrested a number of people for their direct involvement in the recent killings and attacks. But none of them admitted their role as masterminds, although they confessed for the killings.”
“We have already traced the location of some financiers and planners, and are hopeful to arrest them soon,” Monirul claimed.
