Economic Reporter :
he Westin Dhaka has brought traditional Bengali pithas (Cakes) in hopes of reviving this age-old food culture. The Bengali culture of having piping-hot pithas in the cold is almost on the verge of getting lost. The delicious pithas will be served everyday from 3 pm to 11 pm at Daily Treats, the ground floor cafe.
Nostalgic palates of different traditional Bengali pithas are on offer with favourites such as Patishapta and Chitai Pitha with duck meat. Other delicacies to-die-for are Hilsha Chitai Pitha, Shaj Pitha and handmade shemai.
The delicacies are prepared by Chef Shirin Chowdhury, who is inspired by traditional recipes from her hometown of Nawabganj. To embrace the Bengali origins of our pithas, all the ingredients are sourced locally from within Bangladesh to give it a very authentic taste.
This arrangement by The Westin Dhaka is not only to uphold our proud culture, but also a great opportunity for all who miss just having delicious pithas.
