Sabbir Hossain :West Indies emerged as the champions of the ICC World Twenty20 Cricket beating England by four wickets in the final at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday.Earlier, West Indies Women clinched the Women’s World Twenty20 title beating Australia by eight wickets at the same venue on the same day.Sent into bat first, England made a fighting 155 for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs.In reply, West Indies coasted home making 161 for the loss of six wickets when they had just two balls to spare.West Indies made a meager start as they lost their early three wickets for just 11 runs.Then Marlon Samuels and Darren Bravo made a notable partnership. They contributed together 75 runs for the fourth wicket stand before Darren Bravo was caught at the backward point by JE Root off Adil Rashid when the Caribbeans’ total was 86 for the loss of four wickets.Samuels remained unbeaten with 85 while Carlos England faced an early debacle losing their three wickets for 23 runs. Then JE Root and JC Buttler repaired the damage adding together 61 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Buttler was caught at the mid-wicket by Darren Bravo off CR Brathwaite when England’s total was 84 for the loss of four wickets.JE Root cracked a stormy 54. His 36-ball hurricane innings was ornamented with seven fours.Later, England batsmen failed to build any notable partnership. Buttler hit a polished 36 from 22 balls featuring three sixes and one four.DJ Willey hit 21 off 14 balls including two sixes and a four. CR Brathwaite and Darren Bravo grabbed three wickets each instead of 23 and 37 runs respectively while S Badree bagged two wickets for 16 runs.Besides, Andre Russell took one wicket for 21 runs.
