The weekly tea sale here Wednesday was marked by a similar trend to the last week’s sale where Blenders again dominated the market and accounted for most of the offerings.
Loose tea buyers also lent some support. As a result, prices moved higher for most categories, according to a market report.
It was apparent that buyers were following quality closely and brighter teas often sold at premium. Good liquoring Dusts were again a dearer market following more competition.
CTC LEAF: 34,991 packages and 953 packages of old season teas on offer met with a stronger demand at higher rates.
BROKENS: Good liquoring Brokens were strongly competed for and were a dearer market often by Tk 2/- to Tk 3/- particularly the smaller varieties which appreciated further and these could be quoted between Tk 195/- and Tk 200/. Medium and plainer teas were also a better market although there were some withdrawals in the latter category.
