These days some corrupt businessmen are using formalin, pesticides, calcium carbide and other harmful chemicals to preserve vegetable, fish, fruit and other foods. The excessive use of chemicals like formalin, calcium carbide, pesticides and artificial growth regulators on a wide range of products from fruits to fish to vegetables causes cancer, asthma, skin diseases, infertility, affect kidney and liver, damage cardiac system and adversely affect children’s physical and mental growth. Surprisingly, most of the people of our country are not cognizant about what food they are eating.
Life & Health Ltd commenced weeklong mass campaign commence on Thursday at Mirpur 10 area of the capital to create public awareness about health hazards, prevent adulteration and how to get safe food. Managing director of Life & Health Dr Nilanjan Sen inaugurates the campaign while health staffs distributes leaflets, present audio-visual materials, exchange views directly with the consumers, says a press release.
Life & Health initiates a product ‘Carbon Green’ which will curb the peril of chemicals on products from fruits to fish to vegetables arranging a safe and healthy life. They urge intense community engagement in the awareness campaign to prevent adulteration. The campaign will be ended on 22 November at Mirpur 14 area.
