A week-long tree fair began at local old Stadium on Saturday. The theme of this year is ‘Brikhaprane Prokriti-Protibesh, Agami Projanmer Teksai Bangladesh’.
DC in Kishoreganj Mohammad Shamim Alam inaugurated the fair as the chief guest, jointly organized by District Administration and Forest Department.
A discussion was also held at Collectorate conference room on Sunday with Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) A.K.M Ruhul Amin l in the chair. It was addressed among others by Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Rasel Sheikh, PPM (Bar) , as special guest, Krishok League district president and Daily Shatabdir Khantha Editor Ahammad -Ullah, District Awami League (AL) Forest & Inviorment Secretary Enayet karim Omi, CAB district president Alam Sarowar Tito, and Mohila Awami League district secretary Bilkis Begum. The speakers underscored the need for planting more trees at the homesteads and open spaces to protect the environment from its degradation and to save the country from catastrophe of climate-change side by side with meeting the nutritional and wood demand.
