Barisal Correspondent :A week-long drama festival arranged on occasion of 25th anniversary of Shabdaboli Studio Theatre ended in Barisal on Friday, January 22 night.Eleven drama teams as Gentleman Pantomime (The Uncertainworld) , Bangla Theatre (Amanush), Natyadhara (Ebong Ashwamedh Yagya), Shabdo Natya Charcha Kendra (Biranganar Boyan),Prachyanat ( Tragedy Palashbari), Loknatya Dal( Sonai Madhav) of Dhaka, Bibarton( Pechgi) of Jessore, Shabdaboli Group Theatre( Nil Moyurer Jouban, Fona), Panchoshiri Group Theatre (Kuhak) Barisal of Bangladesh and Alternative Living Theater (Long March, Bishadkal) of Kolkata, The Fact Art & Cultural Society ( Samjhouta) from Bihar of India performed their 14 shows in the festival.The shows were presented on the stages of Shabdaboli Studio Theatre and Ashwini Kumar Hall at 5:30 PM and 7:15 PM every day from January 16 to 22 in the festival. Besides seminar on ‘existence of drama against hostility’ and ‘our practice of drama: viewing again on mirror’ were held and other topics related with drama were discussed in the festival every day by leading cultural personalities of the country and abroad. However the concluding ceremony of the festival would be held on Saturday night by awarding Gias-Milon Natya Padak to Liakat Ali Khan Laki, director general of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.The concluding ceremony at Ashwini Kumar Hall would be presided over by Syed Dulal, convener of the festival committee.Mancha Sarathi Ataur Rahman, drama-critic Dr. Ashish Kumar Goswami, deputy commissioner Dr. Gazi Saifuzzaman will attend as guests in the concluding ceremony. Syed Dulal, convener of the festival committee, expressing satisfaction about the successful ending of the festival said the festival proved that the trend of practicing healthy culture reflecting social issues by performing theatre on stage and enjoying that by purchasing ticket, still alive in the city. Nasiruddin Yusuf, Bangladesh chapter president of International Theatre Institute, inaugurate the festival on January 15.
