To mark the 77th birth anniversary of the late music
maestro Azad Rahaman on January 1, a website is going to be launched on that day. Azad Rahaman’s three
daughters – Rumana Azad, Rozana Azad and Nafisa Azad built the website on his life and activities.
Azad Rahaman was a celebrated music composer, director, lyricist, vocalist and mentor in the country. He was immensely revered by a multitude of cultural connoisseurs and musical followers at home and abroad.
Azad Rahaman was also an accomplished classical musician and a pioneer in popularising Hindustani Classical Music in the Bangla language, referred to as Bangla Kheyal. This music maestro died on May 16 this year. This website, which is a tribute to the enduring memory of Azad Rahman, contains information on his life, his contribution to different sectors of musical arena and recollection of memories by cultural personalities.
