BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan on Sunday alleged that use of weapons by the ruling party men become reckless.
He also accused that the government is harassing BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia by sending her to court almost every week.
“People have seen that use of weapons by the
government and the ruling party men become reckless. Now the AL leaders are killing even journalists,” he said while participating in a human chain in front of the National Press Club in the city.
Khan said, “AL men now celebrate marriage ceremonies with blank fire from their firearms. They are showing themselves as lords by walking through the bodies of school students.”
“The government’s behaviour also shows that they think themselves as emperors. But they should think that many lords, kings and emperors have thrown into the garbage of history,” he said.
The BNP leader blamed that the government is involved in harassing Khaleda Zia by compelling her to attend the court almost every week.
He warned that it would not be good for the government to harass Khaleda Zia and BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman as they are political leaders.
“The government should also realise that it will not be good in future when they may not be in power,” he warned.
Khan said as the three time Prime Minister Khaleda Zia expressed her no-confidence on the judge in which court her case is now ongoing.
“The court should take it in cognizance and should change the judge. Because the judgement under the judge may not be appropriate,” he said.
The BNP leader also demanded a neutral Election Commission and called for a neutral national polls soon.
Abu Naser Rahmatullah, president of the organisation, presided over the programme, while BNP Vice-Chairman Ahmed Azam Khan, central leaders Khairul Kabir Khokon and Khaleda Yeasmin, among others, were present.
