Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of the ruling Awami League, threatened to beat up top BNP leaders “like stray dogs” after the clash with BNP supporters.
“We will counter the attack on Chhabi Biswas within three days,” BCL’s General Secretary Siddique Nazmul Alam said through a Facebook post around 6:30pm on Wednesday.
“Will beat the top BNP leaders like stray dogs,” he threatened.
The Facebook status gained several thousand likes and 270 comments in an hour. In the comment thread, Nazmul’s followers provided encouragement to
execute his announcement.
Sources said that Nazmul is currently staying in Thailand for treatment.
BCL activists clashed with supporters of BNP at Dhaka’s Bakshibazar area for over an hour during a graft case hearing of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
