Captain of Bangladesh T20 Cricket team Shakib Al Hasan said, ” We want consistent improvement. We could not show steady performance for some days. If we can show consistent performance, we shall start to win. If we lose to our opponent teams in the last over, it will be a satisfactory performance for us. We want to show competitive performance in the all matches. Then, the cricket lovers and critics of our country will understand that we have progressed. Now-a-days we conceded defeat before giving fight against our opponents team. We tasted defeat in the first 10 overs of the second innings. We want to give fight at least in the last over of the match.”
Shakib Al Hasan was speaking at a press conference in the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur on Monday.
Shakib said, ” Our target is not to show better brand of cricket in a particular tournament. We want to retain our consistent performance in every match. We don’t want to be champions of Asia Cup or win a series only, we want to be favourites in the ensuing T20 World Cup. I have responsibility to lead my team as a Captain.”
Bangladesh Cricket team are play in the Asia Cup under captaincy of Shakib Al Hasan for the first time. Earlier, Shakib played in the final of Asia Cup for Bangladesh team.
Shakib again and again acknowledged the journalists Bangladesh’s record in T20 format is not up to the mark.
He said, ” We want to increase our graph of improvement as high as we can. A want to follow appropriate process.”
He said, ” Say we become champions in the Asia Cup but we fail to show satisfactory performance in the T20 World Cup 2022, in that case we can not retain consistent performance. On the other hand, if we become best team in T20 World Cup 2024 and we can take place our team in the last four in the T20 World Cup 2026, then, we will be good team. If we can clinch the Asia Cup title, but suffer defeats in the Tri-Nation series in New Zealand and also show poor performance in the T20 World Cup 2022, it is not wanted by me. After 2007, India could not win any T20 World Cup, but they are favourites in every World Cup, it is very much important to me.”
The ace all-rounder said, ” I don’t say that we have to change our game pattern over-night. We cannot make bigger our figure if we want. But if we use our ability properly for twice or thrice, then, everybody will understand we have the ability to show consistent performance.”
