Sports Reporter :
Captain of Bangladesh Cricket (ODI) team Tamim Iqbal said on Wednesday, ” We lost recent matches for fielding, not batting or bowling.”
Bangladesh Cricket (ODI) team will host Sri Lanka Cricket (ODI) team in a three-match One Day International (ODI) series, which will start from May 23. Before starting the ODI series, Tamim Iqbal is worried about the fielding of Bangladesh Cricket team. Bangladesh team lost many matches recently in three formats (ODI, Test, T20I) for poor fielding. The misfielding is the one of the vital cause for lost in the recent series. Though Bangladesh whitewashed West Indies in the recently concluded three-match ODI series at home.
Bangladesh lost to Sri Lanka in the two-match Test series in Sri Lanka recently. The Red-and-Green out-fit lost to New Zealand in ODI series as well as T20I series in New Zealand recently. Besides, Bangladesh lost West Indies in the two-Test series as the players of Bangladesh dropped catches one after another. They also missed a good number of chances to run out their opponent batsmen, which was one of the reason for lost to West Indies in the Test series. So, Captain of Bangladesh (ODI) Cricket team Tamim Iqbal is very much cautious about fielding.
Tamim said, ” We are working hard to improve our fielding in our practice sessions. I am very much worried about our fielding. We lost recent series for our poor fielding. We dropped catches in crucial time in our recent matches. However, we are trying hard to improve our fielding.”
Iqbal said, ” All of us want to perform well. But we made mistake in the vital moment of the matches. Our fielding is not up to the mark like other stronger teams of world cricket. But we have some good fielders in our team.”
“We have to give our best ability against our opponent. Everybody should perform their best fielding in their respective position. We have to take the opportunities. A good catch or an extra-ordinary run out can help us to win a match”, he concluded.
