We acted in Ehtesham’s movies, we feel proud to think: Shabnaz

Shabnam is a living legend in the country’s film industry. She debut her career with acting in the silver screen through legendary filmmaker Ehtesham directed movie ‘E Desh Tomar Aamar.’ Similarly, noted film actress Shabnaz started her acting career in the silver screen though acting in Ehtesham directorial popular movie ‘Chandni.’ Both Shabnam and Shabnaz acted in several numbers of movie directed by Ehtesham.
Shabnam last acted in Kazi Hayat directed movie ‘Aammajan.’ Then she did not see to act in any movie for last 23 years. Many directors came to this legendary for acting in their movies. But Shabnam refused to work due to disliking their stories for movies. But acting in ‘Aammajan’ in Bangladesh, Shabnam acted in many movies in Pakistan. She received the highest number of Nigar Awards (11 times) in Pakistan for acting in movies. After returned in Bangladesh in 1998, she did not get the scope to act in movie in Pakistan. After ‘Aammajan,’ released in 1999, viewers didn’t see her in the silver screen.
On the other hand, Shabnaz last acted in recently deceased director Azizur Rahman’s movie ‘Daktar Bari.’ Then she did not see to act in any movie. Shabnaz also got offers for acting in cinemas. But the actress informed that she has no interest for acting in the silver screen now. National Film Award winner actress Shabnaz along with her husband noted film actor Naim and two daughters are living in Dhaka’s Uttara area for many years. For last few days, the actress is staying in India. She has been passing times with husband and daughters. She said, “Shabnam Apa and I are lucky because we got the opportunity to debut our acting careers through the movies of late Ehtesham. Our beginning in the film industry was colourful because we debut our careers in the silver screen under this noted director’s direction. When I meet Shabnam Apa, we talk maximum times with noted filmmaker Ehtesham.”
Meanwhile, Shabnam’s husband Robin Ghosh died few years ago. Then she has been living with her only son Rony Ghosh at Baridhara Diplomatic Zone in the capital. Shabnam said, “In fact, I am old now. I am passing times at home. I sleep very early. I also wake up early and then go to park driving car by myself. After walking there some times, then return home. Then I pass times by own way. I watch television, talk someone if I want and eat timely. I take some medicines regarding doctor’s prescription and attach myself with some social activities. Sometimes I visit relatives’ residences. By this way I pass my times. I have no contact with film related persons now. I last attended Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association’s Iftar Mahfil.”
