Wazirpur ASI closed for collecting bribe-money

An assistant sub-inspector of Wazirpur police station has been closed for collecting bribe-money through bkash, a mobile banking system, on Sunday.
Saiful Islam, district police superintendent, acknowledging the fact, said Aminul Islam, an ASI of Wazirpur police station, has been closed to district police line after an allegation of collecting bribe money through bkash has been raised.
Akramul Hasan, assistant superintendent of police, who investigating the allegation, said primarily a transaction of Tk 5000 from a bikash agent of Shikarpur area under Wazirpur to the bikash account of ASI Aminul was proved and so he was closed from duty. Details would the known after completing the investigation. From family sources it was learnt that Shamim Khan, a Yaba peddler, was arrested on March 15 by ASI Aminul.
After that Reba Begum, mother of detained Shamim, contacted with ASI Aminul to release Shamim and not to torture him.
ASI Aminul demanded Tk 50 thousand for releasing Shamim and Reba Begum told that it was beyond her financial capacity.
After bargaining ASI Aminul giving his visiting card asked Reba Begum to send Tk.5000 to his bkash account on March 16.
Then Reba Begum sent the money and ASI Aminul produced arrested Shamim to court as accused of a case under bail-able light-offence, family sources added.
