Water transports resume operation as weather condition improves in Barisal

Water transports and ferry operation have resumed after weather condition improved and signal reduced in Barisal region on Friday.
Abul Bashar Majumdar, Deputy Director (Marine safety ) of BIWTA, said weather signal number reduced to 1 from 3 at Barisal river port on Friday after cyclonic storm ‘Komen’ became weakened.
Operation of multi-deck water transports and ferry services resumed from 6:00 AM Friday. Restriction against plying ML type small water transports up to 65-feet in length imposed since Sunday last also withdrawn on Friday noon, the BIWTA official said.
Abul Kalam Azad, Acting Deputy Commissioner and Prokash Chandra Biswas, District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer , Barisal, said no loss of life and properties reported in the district due to effect of cyclonic storm ‘Komen’.
Abdur Rashid, Deputy Director , Cyclone Preparedness Programme (CPP) , Red Crescent at Barisal said the men sheltered at different cyclone centers of the coast also returned home after the weather situation improved.
