Facing the rain, high speed of wind, rough condition of river, port authorities of Barisal region has asked to hoist cautionary signal no. 2 and stop operation of small and mid-sized water transports in Barisal from 12:10 pm Sunday till further order.
However, operation of Dhaka bound triple-deck water transports were not cancelled till this report, but they asked to operate cautiously following BIWTA rules and weather instructions about safety measures and trained manpower, the BIWTA and port official said.
The city-sky became cloudy and weather remained sultry with low to heavy rainfall from the noon.
Local met office recorded 13.4 millimeters rainfall with gusty winds speeding 10 nautical miles per our from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM in the city and out skirts, said Pronab Chandra, Barisal met office observer.
