Six persons, including a woman, received severe burn injuries in an explosion at a water reserve tank in the city’s Dhanmondi area on Wednesday morning.
The injured men have been admitted to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) in a critical condition.
They are Abdur Razzaq, 50, Abed Ali, 50, Razzak Ali, 23, Saddam Hossain, 28, Masud Ali, 25, and Shirin Akter, 29, police said.
The incident took place on a four-storied building at Dhanmondi, on the road No. 4 in Dhaka city around 10:45am, said Helal Uddin, Inspector (Investigation) of Dhanmondi Police Station.
The cause behind the explosion could not be known immediately, the police official said.
“The severely injured men are undergoing treatment in the burn unit of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital,” said Partha Sangkar Paul, a Resident Surgeon of the DMCH Burn Unit.
