Water -soaked commodities of Khatungonj need tested before marketing

The traders of Khatungonj, Chaktai and Asadgonj area have started processing of selling the water soaked essential commodities to the retailers market . These commodities soaked with rain and tidal water for the last last few days during during high tidalsurge in sea accompanied flash flood . While visting the business hub by this correspondent on Tuesday last witnessed that the flood affected commodities are being dried under sunlight on roads, open areas and roofs of the buildings aimed at supplying to the retailers in urban and rural areas.
Traders have been trying their best to dry the water-soaked commodities such as onion, garlic, Sugar, lintels, spices, chilli, rice and dry fish. Different heath experts and neutrationists sources said traders are tying to recover their losses so incurred by tidal water but they are ignorance about the health hazards from the water soaked commodities While contacted a number of medicine experts and neutrationists , they feared attacked with liver serosis and liver cancer if these bad smelt water soaked commodities are eaten by the people. These medicine experts demanded to the traders not to sale these rotten type water soaked commodities which is serisous injury for health.
The also opined to under went tests of these commodities before selling these in markets and govt should take necessary steps to stop selling these commodities before supplying to retail markets. A reliable sources said some unscrupulous traders are mixing the water soaked commodities duly dried with unsoaked original bags of such commodities aimed at one recovering their losses .
 While contacted the civil surgeon of Chittagong Dr. Sarfaraz Khan chowdhury told that these soaked should be avoided totally and if taken organic problems may arised inside the body.
Medicine consultant of Chittagong Medical college hospital Prof. Prabir Kumar Das told that the dried commoditiesof chaktai-khatungonj should be tested in labs before consumption , sources said.
