Wash for Urban Poor Project has been launched in Saidpur Municipality. With the financial support of the donor organisation Swedish International Development Agencies (SIDA) & Water Aid Bangladesh, SKS Foundation is implementing the Project Wash for Urban Poor. It is working in Saidpur Municipal Town area to ensure water related and health awareness for the poor population for next five years.
On Tuesday the project was launched at Saidpur Municipal conference room through a grand inauguration program.
Mayor of Saidpur Municipality Md Amjad Hossain Sarkar inaugurated the project as the Chief Guest, Nilphamari District Council Member Alhaj Md. Abdul Gafur Sarker, Saidpur Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Parimal Kumar Sarker, Saidpur Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Alhaj Dr Md. Sirajul Islam, Saidpur Upazila Agriculture Officer Homaira Mondol, Upazila Education Officer Md. Shahjahan Mondal, President of Press Club Md. Aminul Haq, Project Manager of Water Aid Bangladesh Sumon Kanti Nath and Executive Chief of SKS Foundation Rasel Ahmed (Liton) were present as the special guest of the launching ceremony.
Assistant Director of SKS Foundation Khandaker Zahid Sarwar spoke on the occasion. Later, the Project Coordinator Nazrul Islam Tappadar presented the details of the project through a nice presentation.
According to the sources, the Wash for Urban Poor project will work for increasing the awareness of the targeted population in the Saidpur municipal area for the next five years. This will reduce the water and sanitation hygienic problem of the poor people. The project will work with the local government to coordinate the washing services.
