Staff Reporter :Water logging at Kamalapur Railway Station has become a source of sufferings for the passengers, particularly for those who are now returning to Dhaka after passing Eid-ul-Fitr vacation with their near and dear ones.Usually, the entire front portion, including car parking area of the station, goes under ankle-deep water even after a little shower. But nobody cares. The railway authority never pays any attention to the burning issue. In the meantime, many office-goers who left the capital to enjoy their Eid vacation with their family members have already started returning to Dhaka by train. But they face serious trouble when they depart from the station with their kids and luggage. The government, semi-government and private offices, including banks and financial institutions, reopened on Monday after the three-day vacation the account of the Eid-ul-Fitr, the greatest religious festival of the Muslims. But the presence is still very thin.In fact, festive mood has been prevailing in most of the offices. Officials and staff were seen exchanging Eid greetings with their colleagues embracing each other.”The passengers are likely to suffer much more since incessant rains have severely damaged different roads,” Osman Ali, General Secretary of Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Sramik Federation, said.Several of them were seen entering the capital through Sadarghat Launch Terminal and different bus terminals.General Manager of Hanif Paribahan Mosharraf Hossain said, “People have started coming back. Although few seats of our buses were empty on Tuesday, all of our seats have been booked from Wednesday for five days.” This reporter while visiting Gabtoli and Mohakhali bus terminals yesterday saw several people returning to Dhaka with smiling faces. However, the southern-bound launches have got comparatively fewer passengers so far due to incessant rain and rough weather. On the other hand, the ferry services at Mawa-Kawrakandi and Paturia-Daulatdia routes were smooth and traffic flow was normal, said officials at both the terminals.
