Sunamganj’s Dharmapasha Upazila Health Complex water pump has been remaining out of service for 15 days last. Due to lack of alternative facilities in the complex, patients and others have fallen in an unavoidable severity of water crisis. The officials and employees of the residential quarters are also in distress.
Ainuddin, resident of Sadar UP, a male ward patient of the complex said, ‘I have been admitted here for 15 days. The water pump is out of service from the first day.’
Another patient, Hakku Mia, said that due to lack of water, it is very difficult to stay here. It is not possible to carry water from outside.
Khurshida Begum said that patients of the ward are given a few water by the hospital authority. So the patients are suffering.
The hospital’s junior mechanic Abdur Razzak said ‘The water level has dropped below. As a result the water is not getting by the pump. I am in Mymensingh to bring pipes and other equipment for the pump.’
Dharmapasa Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, Abdul Malek said that most efforts were being made to repair the pump.
KM Hasanuzzaman, executive engineer of Sylhet Health Engineering Department, said, ‘I heard this. Engineers will be sent for quick repair.’
