A total of 56 public service institutions, including WASA (Water and Sewerage Authority) and Titas Gas Transmission & Distribution Company Limited, will act following the directions of city corporations within its boundaries.
Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) issued a circular in this regard on Monday (June 27) with the view to remove the lack of coordination among the service providing organizations and city corporations with those.
The circular, signed by PMO director (administration) Dr Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir, said from now on head of government service providing organizations will attend the meetings of city corporations to implement the decisions taken there. At the same time, they will submit reports to the city corporations about the progress in implementing the tasks. The decision was taken to fulfill section 49(15) of local government (city corporation) act 2009. Ever since mayors of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Annisul Huq and Sayeed Khokon had taken office they were asking to bring the service providing organizations under the city corporations.
