Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (DWASA) on Thursday said that they would supply uninterrupted water during the ongoing dry season and the upcoming Ramzan.
“We have sufficient amenities to supply water as much as needed in the dry season and the holy Ramzan as we have taken special measures for it,” said, Engineer Taqsem A Khan, Managing Director of the WASA.
He said it while addressing a view exchange meeting on Dry Season Water Supply, Rainy Season Preparation and Ramzan’s Special Measures for uninterrupted Water Supply’ arranged by the body.
The WASA Managing Director said, it is supplying 245 to 252 crore liters of water everyday which is the total demand of the capital city.
Taqsem A Khan said also the WASA has taken adequate measures to reduce water logging in upcoming rainy season.
“We have excavated 30 kilometers canals in the 17 city canals and dug 2,62,000 cubic meter soil from canals to make those deep to contain huge rainy water. thus the water logging will be reduced than last year,” the WASA MD said.
He said the WASA has taken all necessary measures to face the emergency needed to reduce water logging and uninterrupted
water supply in the dry season and Ramzan.
Shaban Mahmud, Member of WASA Board, Abul Quashem, Director, (Development) of WASA, AKM Shahid Uddin, Director, (Technical) of WASA and AM Mostafa Tarek, Deputy Chief Public Information Officer, were present.
