WASA eviction drives in Madunaghat, Ctg

A mobile court has demolished a privately owned installations built next to the Sheikh Russell Water Treatment Plant at Madunaghat in the port city. But, the occupants have claimed that the place had been leased to them from the Water Development Board since 2006.
The eviction drive was led by WASA Executive Magistrate Fahmida Mustafa on Thursday / Executive Magistrate Fahmida Mustafa told media that about 40 per cent of the Chattogram WASA Sheikh Russell water treatment plant purchased from the Water Development Board had been illegally occupied for a long time.
The operation was launched on Thursday morning and the illegal installations were evicted. Such eviction campaigns to protect government land will continue in the future.
On the other hand, Nessar Uddin Bulu, who claimed that the land was leased, told that he leased land from the Water Development Board in 2008 for five years. The condition was that the lease could be renewed at the end of five years. Before the expiration of the lease in 2011, they asked us to explain the occupation by making fictitious allegations .
Later I filed a case in the Hathazari Assistant Judge’s Court. He said the Water Development Board filed an objection when it applied for a temporary ban against the Water Development Board.
The court ordered the status quo to be maintained until a hearing on the temporary injections is held. The Water Development Board asks for time to submit the explanations.
A hearing is scheduled for March 11 on the submission of the statement and the temporary ban.
Disobeying the court order, Chittagong WASA demolished without any notice. We will take legal action in this regard, a leasee added.
