Chittagong Bureau :
A court in Chittagong issued warrants of arrest against three accused including one of the owner of city’s posh hotel – Hotel Agrabad HM Khorshed Ali .
Divisional Special Judge of Chittagong SM Ataur Rahman announced the arrest of these alleged accused. Public Prosecutor of Special Judge Court Advocate Mesbahuddin Chowdhury told that the alleged corruption case against them was suspended earlier with the interim order of the high court but after expire of the suspension order, the alleged accused did not appear before the lower court on five working days and hence court issued warrant of arrests against them.
The alleged accused are Chairman of Hotel Agrabad HM Khorshed Ali, formcer AGM of Pubali Bank Jasimuddin and Director of Gulf (BD) Associate Karimul Hasan. Court sources said, Khorshed Alam opened a letter of credit for Tk.5.86 cr in Pubali Bank for importing 8 thousands metric tons of rice on May 10, 1988 but later he misappropriated the bank money suspending the import of rice .
The erstwhile Anti corruption Bureau Inspector Shafiqul Islam filed this case before the court against 8 persons including Hotel Agrabad chairman in 1991.
