UNB, Dhaka :A court here on Tuesday issued a warrant for the arrest of Tuhin Malik, a Supreme Court lawyer, in a sedition case filed for making ‘disparaging’ remarks on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members. Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Shamsul Arifin issued the order upon an application moved by the complainant’s lawyer as Tuhin did not appear before it yesterday (Tuesday) defying its order. The court also asked the police concerned to submit a report on compliance on February 10.Over a month back, on December 10 last, the court summoned Tuhin Malik to appear before it on January 13 in the sedition case.On December 9, pro-Awami League Bangladesh Chhatra League deputy international affairs secretary Golam Rabbani filed two cases with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court for sedition and hurting religious sentiment through making ‘disparaging’ remarks on the Constitution and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.According to the case statements, Dr Tuhin Malik made a statement at Water Lily Garden auditorium in London on November 30 last year saying, “The Constitution has been changed incorporating all the stories of Mujib and his family lyrics along with music. The person gets executed who makes attempt to annul the changes.”Tuhim further alleged the matter of atheism and non-religion has been tagged into the Constitution that cannot be amended by anyone till doomsday. “Alhamdulillah, man perhaps doesn’t understand what Allah wants. The only alternative remains to abrogate the Constitution. Whose father of the nation and ideology, and spirit for whom?
