A court here on Wednesday issued a warrant for the arrest of Chittagong north district unit BNP convener Aslam Chowdhury in a case filed over cheque fraudulence.
Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Shahenur passed the order as the
BNP leader was absent at the court during the hearing on the case.
Public Prosecutor Advocate M Fakhruddin said the BNP leader had given a cheque of Tk 11.97 lakh to one Helal Uddin on business purpose. As Helal went to the local branch of Bank Asia for encashing the cheque, the bank authorities refused to provide money due to inadequate balance in the bank account.
