A Dhaka court on Monday issued arrest warrant against 16 BNP men including the party’s Vice Chairman Barkatullah Bulu, the Chairperson’s Special Assistant Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas and the party chief’s Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel in a case under Explosive Substances Act.
Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah of Dhaka’s Metropolitan Special Tribunal-1 passed arrest order against the 16 fugitives after taking into cognizance the charge sheet of the case on Monday. The court set February 2 for submitting a report on execution of the warrant order.
The tribunal’s Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) Tapash Kumar Paul apprised newsmen of the arrest order. Some other accused persons are: BNP leader Azizul Bari Helal, Saiful Islam Nirob and Mir Sarafat Ali Safu.
Police filed the case on March 19, 2015 with Mirpur Model Police Station under the Explosive Substances Act for carrying out subversive activities the previous day in Mirpur area.
