Court Correspondent :
A Dhaka court on Sunday issued arrest warrants against 169 BNP leaders, including BNP Vice-Chairman Amanullah Aman, in a case filed last year under the explosive substances act.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Kazi Md Ashrafuzzaman passed the order after accepting charge sheet placed by police and also asked them to submit reports on January 13 on execution of the arrest warrants.
The court rejected time petitions submitted by the accused as they did not appear before the court. All the accused were on bail which expired yesterday.
The court source says the total number of accused was 181 in the case, of them 19 accused are on permanent bail. The day was earlier fixed for taking into cognizance the charge sheet. However, the accused did not appear in the court and submitted petitions seeking time.
The case was filed following a clash between two groups of BNP men in Keraniganj, on the outskirts of the capital, on June 4 last year.
