Jamaat-e-Islami secretary general Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mojaheed, hanged for committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971, was buried at his Paschim Khabashpur ancestral home in Faridpur on Sunday morning. He was buried in front of Ideal Cadet Madrasah, 400 yards away from his residence, around 7:25am. An ambulance carrying the body of Mojaheed from Dhaka, escorted by three vehicles of Rapid Action Battilion (RAB) and three of police, reached there around 6:45am. The body was handed over to his family members around 6:50am in presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Faridpur Abdur Rashid. About 150 people, including family members and Jamaat-Shibir activists, attended the namaz-e-janaza held on the madrasah ground around 7:00am. The namaz-e-janaza was conducted by his elder brother Afzal Mohammad Khaled. Under protection of police and Rapid Action Battalion, he was buried around 7:25am. After nearly six years of long trial, condemned war criminals Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Muhammad Mojaheed were hanged at Dhaka Central Jail in the early hours of Sunday for the atrocities they had committed during the Liberation War in 1971. This was for the first time two war criminals were executed together since the beginning of the war crimes trial. Prisoners Shahjahan and Raju were the hangmen. They were assisted by some other prisoners. Jail sources said the two war crimes convicts were hanged with separate nooses at the same scaffold at 12:55am. Escorted by law enforcers, a hearse carrying the body of executed war criminal Salauddin Quader started for his village home in Rauzan of Chittagong while another with the body of Mojaheed to Faridpur. A total of four ambulances — two carrying the dead bodies and the two others with dummies — left the jail gate around 2:52am.– Faridpur , Nov 22 (UNB)
