Wanted BNP leader shot at by police, held in Satkhira

A BNP leader received bullet injury during a clash with the police in Shyamnagar of Satkhira district on Saturday.
The local BNP leader, Faruk, was wanted in 16 cases, said Shyamnagar police station Officer-in-Charge Aminul Islam.
He said, “Acting on a tip-off, the police raided Godkhali Bill area around 8pm on Friday in order to arrest Faruk.”
“But sensing the presence of the law enforcers, Faruk along with his supporters attacked them. In retaliation, the police opened fire, leaving Faruk injured.”
“Injured Faruk was admitted to the Upazila Health Complex. The police recovered one pipe-gun and three rounds of bullets from the spot,” added the OC.
