The Walton Smart Fridge-DRU Media Cup Football Tournament began at the Shaheed (Captain) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium on Sunday.
In the day’s matches, ETV beat ATN Bangla by two goals to nil in the tie-breaker, ATN News defeated Amar Sangbad by 2-1 goals, Daily Jababdihi blanked Sangbad Protidin by four goals to nil, Samayer Alo beat Bhorer Dak by two goals to nil in the tie-breaker, Manabzamin edged past Bangladesh Post by two goals to nil in the tie-breaker.
Meanwhile, Amader Samay, Jugantor and the Daily Sangbad got walk-over in their respective matches.
Earlier, Executive Director of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn formally opened the football competition as the chief guest. President of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) Rafiqul Islam Azad presided over the inaugural ceremony. General Secretary of DRU Riaz Chowdhury conducted the opening ceremony and Sports Secretary of DRU Mojibur Rahman delivered the address of welcome.
