The Walton Oriental 1st Wrestling Championship begins tomorrow at the Paltan Maidan.
The weight-measuring programme will be held today.
Bangladesh Amateur Wrestling Federation will organize the two-day long wrestling meet under auspices of Walton Group.
To mark the ensuing wrestling competition, a press conference was held at the conference room of National Sports Council on Thursday. General Secretary of Bangladesh Amateur Wrestling Federation Tabiur Rahman and Head of Sports and Welfare Department of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn spoke at the conference. Joint-Secretary of Bangladesh Amateur Wrestling Federation (BAWF) Mesbha Uddin Azad and Member of BAWF Nazrul Islam were also present at the conference.
The participating teams are: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Police and Bangladesh Ansar & VDP.
The competition of the Men’s Division will be held in eight weight categories, while the competition of the Women’s Division will be held in eight weight categories.
The budget of the competition has been estimated at Taka two lakh, while Walton Group, the sponsor of the meet has given Taka two lakh to BAWF to run the competition smoothly.
Secretary of National Sports Council Ashok Kumar Biswas will distribute the prizes among the winners as the chief guest on the concluding day (February 26).
