Country’s consumer based electronics manufacturer company Walton has been named the title sponsor of Bangladesh-Australia upcoming two-match Test series while Marcel become the power sponsor of the series.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) formally announced the name of the title sponsor of the series at a press conference held on Tuesday at the conference room of Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) at Mirpur.
The official name of the two-match Test series will be “Walton Test Cricket Series: Bangladesh vs Australia powered by Marcel”.
Executive director of Walton (policy, HRM & Admin) SM Zahid Hasan, head of Marcel (South) Motiur Rahman, operative director of Walton (creative & publications department) Uday Hakim and assistant director (creative & publications department) Milton Ahmed, BCB media manager Rabeed Imam and Axiom Technologies managing director and Rizwan Bin Farouq were present at the press conference.
Australia are set to arrive in the city on September 28 to play two Test matches, first one will begin on October 9 in Chittagong. The second and final Test match will be held on October 17-21 at the SBNCS in Mirpu. The visitors will also play a three-day practice match in Fatullah to be held on October 3- 5.
Australia’s only Test tour of Bangladesh previously was in 2006 when they played two Test in Fatullah and Chittagong. They also came to play a three-match ODI series in 2011.
Bangladesh toured Australia twice too, in 2003 to play two Tests and three ODIs, and in 2008 for three ODIs.
