Walton, Microsoft inks deal

The local electronics giant Walton inked a partnership deal with the world’s largest software manufacturer Microsoft to get the original Windows software, which will be used in Walton brand laptops and computers, says a media release.
Under the deal, the users of Walton laptops and computers will enjoy original Windows operating system software.
Engineer Liakat Ali, executive director and computer project in-charge of Walton Group, and Anne Lepissier, Microsoft’s General Manager (CDS) for South East Asia region, signed the deal on behalf of their respective organizations at a signing ceremony at the auditorium of Bangladesh Computer Council in the capital’s Agargaon on Monday.
Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar attended the program as the chief guest while Local Government Division’s Senior Secretary Dr. Zafar Ahmed Khan, Information and Communication Technology Secretary Subir Kishore Choudhury, Posts and Telecommunication Ministry’s Additional Secretary Saiful Islam, Walton Digi-Tech Industries Ltd. Chairman SM Rezaul Alam, Walton Group’s Executive Director and Chief Marketing Coordinator Eva Rezwana, Managing Director of Microsoft Bangladesh Sonia Bashir Kabir were the special guests.
Walton inked the deal aimed at using original Microsoft Windows Operating System software in its produced ICT devices.
