The Walton 2nd National Women’s Baseball Competition starts today at the Sultana Kamal Women’s Sports Complex in the city’s Dhanmondi.
Bangladesh Baseball-Softball Association has organized the baseball tournament under auspices of Walton Group.
Secretary of Youth and Sports Affairs of Bangladesh Awami League Harun-ur-Rashid will inaugurate the baseball competition as the chief guest, while Senior Operative Director (Head of Games & Sports) of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn and Deputy-Commissioner of DMP ABM Masud Hossain will be present with him as special guests. General Secretary of Bangladesh Baseball-Softball Association Aminul Islam Liton will also present at the time.
A total of eight teams splitting into two groups are competing in the baseball meet.
Reigning champions Bangladesh Ansar, Khulna Division team, Rangpur Division team, Dhaka Division team are in Group-A, while defending runners-up Bangladesh Police, Mymensingh Division team, Chattogram Division team, Rajshani Division team are in Group-B.
Top two teams from each group will play in the semi-finals tomorrow. The winners of the two semi-finals will compete each other in the final on Sunday (July 29).
