Ingredients :
o 4 cups Walnuts (finely chopped)
o ¼ cup Sugar
o 2 tbsp Cinnamon (ground)
o 1 cup Butter (melted)
o 1 package frozen Phyllo Dough (thawed)
For Syrup
o 1 cup Sugar
o ½ cup Water
o ¼ cup Honey
o 1 tsp Lemon Juice
o 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Procedure:
o Take a mixing bowl and add walnuts, sugar and cinnamon together.
o Grease a baking dish with some melted butter.
o Remove the phyllo dough sheets and separate them.
o Place one sheet of phyllo in the baking dish and brush it with some butter.
o Place another sheet over the first one and brush more butter on it.
o Fold the ends of the sheets underneath, to fit in the dish.
o Spread ¼ cup of the walnut mixture over the sheet.
o Repeat this process by layering two sheets, brushing with butter and sprinkling the walnut mixture.
o Finally, cover the mixture with the remaining dough sheets and give a final brushing of butter.
o Slice the dough into diamonds using a sharp knife.
o Bake the dough till it turns golden brown.
o Place a saucepan over fire and combine sugar, water, honey, lemon juice and vanilla extract. Stir well.
o Boil the contents and simmer over low heat for about 10 minutes.
o Remove and pour over warm baklava.
o Cool on a wire rack and serve.
