Wage Earners Welfare Board gives scholarships

Shoaib Ahmed Khan, Director of Wage Earners Welfare Board and Joint Secretary of Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment said that Rangpur district is implementing extensive training in foreign employment after acquiring skills through technical training for unemployed youth in Rangpur are lagging behind in employment. He said that since 2008, 12,000 youths have been employed in 30 courses in 6 trades in domestic and foreign employment and socio-economic development of Rangpur has been taking place. In this context, the number of skilled workers going abroad is increasing day by day due to the grants and subsidies provided by the Wage Earners Welfare Board of the Ministry of Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment. He said this while addressing a function at the Rangpur TTC Auditorium on Wednesday to provide scholarships to the quarantine staff of the foreign employment workers and scholarships to the meritorious students of the expatriate workers. At that time, 634 expatriate workers were given an allowance cheque of Tk 2 cr and 32 of their meritorious children were given scholarships of Tk 25,000.
