Efficiency improvement through serving patients with affection and humanity is very important towards gaining success in nursing profession.
Boosting the number of skilled and devoted nurses is also necessity to address the gradually mounting demands as new more challenges are emerging in this sector day by day.
The observation came at a post-rally discussion at Rajshahi Medical College (RMC) auditorium in the city on Saturday.
Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) unit of Bangladesh Nurses Association (BNA) organized the rally and discussion to mark the International Nurses Day-2018.
Director of RMCH Brigadier General Jamilur Rahman addressed the meeting as chief guest with BNS local unit president Elora Parveen in the chair.
General secretary of RMC Teachers Association Dr Mahbubur Rahman Khan, RMCH Nursing Superintendent Aleara Khatun and its Deputy Superintendent Badar Uddin and BNS local unit general secretary Moyej Uddin also spoke.
Brig Gen Rahman termed nurses as daughters, wives and mothers of the nation and said nursing is the most important healthcare profession in the world and nurses play a key role in all of medical institutions, being responsible for the welfare, safety and recovery of patients.
“The wealth of our nation depends on the health of our population and the health of our population depends on nursing,” he added.
“Nurses should be well trained and educated for maintaining good health and wellness of the patients in all aspects including physical, psychosocial and social, “he said adding that nurses have to have practical knowledge on delivering healthcare services efficiently.
BSS from Rangpur adds: The nurses of Kurigram district on Saturday vowed to uphold the nobleness of their profession through serving the suffering humanity with utmost sincerity to attain the sustainable development goals.
They vowed this at a post-rally discussion organised by Kurigram General Hospital and Nursing Institute (GHNI) at the Doctor’s Club conference room in Kurigram district town in observance of the International Nurses Day- 2018.
Earlier, a colorful rally, participated by the students of nursing, nurses, physicians, health officials and employees of GHNI, was brought out on the main streets of town.
With Nursing Supervisor Ambia Pervin in the chair, Superintendent of Kurigram Sadar Hospital Dr Anwarul Haque Pramanik attended the discussion as the chief guest.
Civil Surgeon of Kurigram Dr Aminul Islam addressed the discussion as the special guest.
Nursing Instructor (In-charge) Begum Anjuman Ara, Nursing Officer Shefali Rahman and Nursing Instructor Jahir Raihan, among others, spoke.
Dr Aminul Islam termed the nurses as real friends of the suffering people and highly appreciated their selfless and dedicated services being rendered to the human being in their real need when their lives remain at stakes.
The chief guest put emphasis on ensuring adequate training for further improving skills of the nurses so that they could provide world standard services to the patients in the hospitals, health complexes, clinics and other places.
“The dedicated services of the nurses are saving hundreds of human lives every minute across the world,” he said and asked them for discharging professional duties with utmost sincerity to the suffering people..
