President of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury on Sunday said the government must restore people’s voting rights by holding the next election under a non-party administration.
“Democracy in the country will be ruined if the misrule returns. That’s why we call for forging a unity,” he said.
Speaking at a youths’ rally, the BDB chief further said, “No threat will work and the polls must be arranged under a neutral government and people’s voting rights will have to be restored.”
BDB’s associate body ‘Projonmo Bangladesh’ arranged the programme at Chairmanbari field in Banani.
B Chowdhury, also the chairman of Jukta Front, urged the government to take the responsibility of people and voters coming out of the politics of power. “Try to ease the sufferings of people and their agonies.”
He said this is not fair that it is only the ruling party will speak up and hold rallies as per their whims gaging the voice of other parties. “It’s an undemocratic practice and misrule. This is not democracy, its’ a deception with people. It can’t be continued.”
Narrating various scams in different finical sectors, including the banking one, the Jukta Front chief said the current regime is the ‘most corrupt’ one.
B Chowdhury, also a former president, said corruption will be removed from the country, and Bangladesh will turn into a happy and prosperous one as the youth have woken up.
He alleged that the government has stood against people’s unity and as the ruling party leaders are talking about resisting it.
Accusing the government of politicising the administration, the BDB chief urged the government officials, including law enforcers, to play a neutral role during the election.
He urged the youth to get united to thwart any kind of plot. “No conspiracy will work if the youth remain united.”
