Voter list updating to start soon, cost Tk 82cr

The Election Commission (EC) is going to take initiative to update the voter list. For this, the EC will at first collect information about the voters to make the updated voter list faultless.
The work was suspended due to Parliamentary Election held last December.
The sources said that the Election Commission is thinking of completing the voter list updating work at the district level by this year. Those who were born before January 1, 2002 will be included on the list, while those who died by this time, their names will be slashed from the list.
Those who have changed their residential addresses will get an opportunity to return to the list if their names were cut for change of addresses.
The Election Commission in a meeting on Monday decided to finalize all procedures including the date of starting the voter list updating work. It is discussed that the activity will start soon, but the exact date could not be fixed.
According to the work sheet of EC, it has been known that the information collectors will gather information moving from post to pillar and vice-versa. After three weeks, the voters will give their reflection of the eyes and 10 fingerprints in the identified registration center. The registration center will be established in every ward.
One information collector will be appointed for every two thousand people and one supervisor for five information collectors. One data entry operator will be appointed for every 70 people.
And for such gigantic work, an amount of at Tk 82.5 crore will be sufficient. Voters’ update work will start soon if the action plan is created by the Director General of NID Registration Brigadier General Mohammad Saidul Islam is. After completing the voter list updates programme, the national identity card will be supplied immediately.
Additional Secretary of the EC Mokhlesur Rahman shares his view that EC will sit soon for this purpose.
There may it be decided when the programme of this update will be done. However, due to the eleventh parliamentary election, the suspended updating program will not take much time.
There are 10,41,00, 341 voters in the country now.
