The National Vitamin A Plus Campaign started across in the country, aiming to feed vitamin A plus capsules to children aged between 6 months to 59 months from Saturday.
In Kishoreganj, About 5 lakh children took Vitamin A capsules in 13 upazilas,8 municipalities of Kishoreganj as part of the four-day National Vitamin ‘A’ Plus Campaign from 11 December to 14 December.
The campaign inaugurated at Kishoreganj General Hospital on Saturday morning with Divisional Health Director in Dhaka Dr. Hasan Noor and Health Director Dr. Belal Hossain, Health and Family Planning Ministry Sr. Deputy Secretary Zakia Sultana, Former Health Director Dr. Deen Mohammad were attended as the chief and special guests.
Civil Surgeon( CS) Dr.Mujibur Rahman presided over the function.
Under the campaign, which run by maintaining COVID-19 health guidelines.
Among others by Kishoreganj General Hospital Deputy Director Dr. Helaluddin, CAB District President Alam Sarowar Tito, DCS Dr. Mustafizur Rahman and Joyeeta Dr. Hosna Ara were also present.
Staff Reporter, Rangpur says: Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa on Saturday said Vitamin A increases disease resistant capacity of babies to reduce their death risks alongside preventing night blindness and other diseases.
He said this while inaugurating the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign (second round)-2021 in the city by administering Vitamin A Plus Capsules to the under five babies in a function arranged at Jalkor Surjodoy Club and Library vaccination center.
Divisional Commissioner Md. Abdul Wahhab Bhuiyan and DC Md. Asib Ahsan visited the vaccination center and witnessed the inaugural function arranged by the RpCC authority.
Presided over by City Councilor (Ward No-19) Alhaj Mahmudur Rahman Titu,
Secretary of RpCC Md. Rashedul Haque, its Chief Health Officer Dr. Kamruzzaman Ibne Taz and Sanitary Inspector Md. Abdul Kaiyum and City
Councilor Md. Sekendar Ali (Ward No-23) attended the function.
Dr Taz said the four-day campaign is being conducted under the auspices of the Public Health and Nutrition Institute and National Nutrition Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Planning with UNICEF assistance.
A total of 1,27,500 under-five age group babies of all 33 wards in the city will be fed with Vitamin A Plus capsules on today (Saturday), Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday next from 8 am to 4 pm.
“Immunization of the under-five babies with Vitamin A Plus capsules is crucial for strengthening their immune system and disease resistance capacity for their healthier growth,” he added.
Some 594 health workers and volunteers under supervision of 44 supervisors will provide Vitamin A Plus capsules at 297 outreach centers in the city during the campaign.
“Around 19,500 babies (6-11 months) and 1,08,000 babies (12-59 months) will be administered with one dose of one lakh units of Vitamin A Plus Blue capsule and one dose of two lakh units of Vitamin A Red capsule each respectively,” Dr Taz added.
BSS from Bogura adds: A total of 4,78,758 under-five age group babies immunized with vitamin A Plus capsules during the National Vitamin A Plus Campaign-2021 from December 11 to 14 in the district.
Civil Surgeon Dr Gausul Azam disclosed the information while addressing an orientation workshop on the occasion of Vitamin A Plus Campaign was held in the conference room of the civil surgeon office of the district Friady morning.
The campaign will be conducted under the auspices of the Public Health and Nutrition Institute and National Nutrition Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Planning with the assistance of UNICEF.
Deputy civil surgeon of the district Dr Mostafizur Rahman Tuhin, Sadar upazila health and family planning officer Dr Sazzad Hossain, Medical officer Dr. Samir Hossain Mishu, Bogura press club present Mahmudul Alam Nayan, among others, were present on the occasion.
