A total of 3 lakh 91 thousand 642 children below five years of age were administered vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsules on Saturday in the city and district. The campaign began at 8am and continued till 4 pm on the occasion of National Vitamin ‘A’ plus campaign-2017.
City Mayor Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu inaugurated the vitamin A plus campaign at his residence on Saturday morning.A total of 1,931 temporary centres were set up in the district to carry out the programme.Besides, a total of 969 field-level health workers, 395 supervisors and 4,824 volunteers worked at the centres for administering vitamin ‘A’ plus capsules to children. Earlier, civil surgeon Dr Abu Mohammad Zakirul Islam on Thursday at a press conference held at Sadar Hospital auditorium in the city sought cooperation of all including mass media and civil society members to make the campaign a success.
BSS from Rajshahi reports: The National Vitamin ‘A’ Plus Campaign-2017, was observed in the city and nine upazilas of the district administering vitamin A capsules to around 3,54,878 babies on Saturday.
Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation Musaddique Hossain Bulbul inaugurated the city level campaign at green plaza this morning.
Ward Councilors Nurun Nahar and Nasima Khanom and Chief Health Officer Dr Anzuman Ara Begum were present among others concerned there.
In the city, around 60,533 children under five years of age were administered vitamin ‘A’ Plus capsules. The campaign began at 8am at 384 centres, including 343 permanent and 41 mobile ones, simultaneously and continued till 4pm.
BSS from Khulna adds: The Vitamin A plus campaign began here on Saturday with targeting to feed vitamin a plus capsule to children aged between zero to five years old.
Khulna civil surgeon Dr. A S M Abdur Razzak inaugurated the campaign by adminestering a capsule to a child at Nowdari Community Clinic at Fultala upazila in the district.
Fultala upazila family planning officer Dr. Md. Abdul Mazid was present on the occasion.
A total of 1, 51,350 babies aged under 12-59 months will be administered red colour vitamin A capsule in the district. Of them a total of 81,067 babies will be fed red colour vitamin A capsule in City Corporation (KCC) area.
Meanwhile, a total of 19,920 babies aged less than 6-11 months will be administered blue colour capsule in the district.
