Aiming to blindness free and prevent night blindness among children of Bangladesh and to increase immunity in the body of the babies, the campaign for administrating vitamin ‘A’ plus capsule observed in Barisal on Saturday.
Chief Health Officer of BCC Dr Matiur Rahman inaugurated the program at Jamiruddin primary school center of the city at the morning.
The program held for once in a year to administrate each child with 30 thousands unit dose of blue capsules to 6 to 11 month old children and 2.59 lakh unit red capsule to 12 month to 59 month old children , said Dr AFM Shafiuddin, District Civil Surgeon of Barisal.
The Barisal health department sources said on Saturday they operated extensive drives for giving doses to 3,35,930 children in the district including 46,175 children of the City Corporation area aged 0-59 months administered with Vitamin -A plus capsule under this programme on Saturday.
Total 11,397 staffs of health department and 1,850 volunteers including Girl Guides in 2,255 centers under 30 wards of BCC, 10 upazilas, 85 unions, 255 wards in the district worked to make the vitamin’A’ plus Campaign-2016 successful on Saturday.
Dr. AFM Shafiuddin, Barisal district civil surgeon and Dr. Matiur Rahman, Barisal City Corporation health officer, said they hoped to achieve 98 percent success of the program.
