Visually-impaired students at primary level will be given “Daisy multimedia books” for the first time as part of countrywide textbooks distribution festival for the academic year 2015 scheduled to be celebrated today. As part of the initiative, visually-impaired students at secondary level also will be given daisy multimedia books from the next year aiming to supplement the government’s effort to ensure “Education for all”, a press release said.
The Education Ministry, the Social Welfare Ministry and Access to Information (a2i) Programme have taken initiative jointly to distribute daisy multimedia books, electronic books and braille books among the visually impaired students. Daisy multimedia book is “Full text Full Audio” digital multimedia book, which is suitable for all students including visually impaired ones.
Students require AMIS or DD reader software for using the daisy books.
