Boi Mela: Visitors, publishers happy over management

Book lovers on Tuesday visited the month-long Amar Ekushey Boi Mela in city and expressed their satisfaction at the management system of the fair venue this year.
Porag Ahsan, a service holder, said, this year the two fair premises have been decorated very
vibrantly. The roads in the areas have been constructed very widely and the entrance gate of Suhrawardy Udyan has been built newly. The visitors can wander the fair premises without any disturbance.
“Everyone can move easily from stall to stall in search of their favourite books”, he said.
Expressing his satisfaction, Shihab Bahadur, Publisher of Muktachinta, said “This year the fair ground is decorated gorgeously that has attracted the book lovers and the publishers as well”.
The selling condition in the first seven days is good and we expect more next week”, he added.
A total of 572 new books arrived in the fair during the first seven days. Of them 89 Story, 78 Novel, 37 Article, 149 Poetry, 15 Rhyme, 18 Child Literature, 8 Biography, 22 Liberation War, 10 Science, 12 Excursion, 8 History, 5 Health, 13 Science Fiction and 108 Miscellaneous.
On the other hand, 121 new books arrived yesterday in the Boi Mela.
“Muktijuddho: Ronangon Netrokona” of Abu Akkas Ahmed and “Julekha Badshar Meye” of Jamal Reza published by Ananna Publication, “Muktir Kandari Tajuddin: Konnar Ovibadon” of Sharmin Ahmed and “Stalin: Mittachar O Prasangikota” of Monjurul Haque published by Oitejja Publication, “Ekusher Kobita” of Ramshankor Debonath published by Bivash Publication and “The Locked Room” by Nalanda Publication were, among others.
A discussion titled “Haricaron Bangla Vashar Projukti Byabohar ” was held on Tuesday in the main prodium of the academy. Professor Jamilur Reza Chowdhury presided over the function, while Mostafa Jabbar presented the keynote paper.
Nazrul Islam Khan and Shyamsundor Sikder spoke as the discussant.
Later, a fascinating cultural program was held at the main prodium. The artistes were Salma Hossain, Fahima Hossen Chowdhury and Anima Roy.
At 4:00 pm a discussion titled “Sarder Joinuddiner Jonmoshotobarshiki” will be held today (Wednesday) in the main prodium of the academy. Mohammad Joinuddin will preside over the function, while Professor Bishwajit Ghosh will present the keynote paper. Horishonkor Jolodas, Professor Baitullah Quadery and Mobashshera Farzana Mithela will participate in the discussion.
