Bangladesh reported 112 coronavirus deaths in the last 24 hours, the highest single-day spike, raising the total number of deaths to 10,497, according to the official figures.
Besides, 4,271 Covid-19 cases were confirmed during the period. With the latest, the total number of cases surged to 7,23,221. Among the dead, 75 are males while 37 are female.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) informed this in a press release on Monday (April 19, 2021).
A total of 24,152 samples were tested at 227 authorized laboratories across the country during the time, the press release added.
In the past 24 hours, another 6,364 people were discharged from the hospital, raising the total number of cured patients to 6,21,300.
Earlier, 3,698 COVID-19 patients and 102 deaths related to the disease were reported yesterday.
The first coronavirus death was reported in the country on March 18, ten days after the detection of the first COVID-19 cases.
