Staff Reporter, Rangpur :
Community Eye Hospital and International Rokeya Foundation held a meeting on the Covid 19 crisis and its protection at virtual platform on Monday in Rangpur.
Mehedi Hasan, Plant Manager, Covid Disaster Management, AAGM, Tianjin China shared a proposed guideline on “Local community transmission control”. Ferdous Alam Mukul, Chairman, Abu Nasar, DAED of CECRC, Rangpur attended the meeting.
The speakers in the discussion said, Bangladesh is now struggling to contain the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are way behind on preventive measurement and control. We need to prepare ourselves ahead of time. As we see the 2nd wave, we do not have enough preparation, ventilation, oxygen, ICU, medical facilities, and most importantly, do not have enough planning. I was working from the beginning as a front line leader in industrial COVID Disaster Management system. The guideline I am sharing is based on experience in China. It may help Bangladesh to deal with. Take these guidelines seriously. If you want to survive, you need to follow. The following case study is based on a scenario of a village having 200 families, three entries and exits from the village.
The discussion suggested that every dedicated battle team is an essential part of the win. Dedication and determination can bring success. Pick the right team member: Recruit 20 young and energetic boys or girls from the locality.Provide the training. There should be clear guidelines for the volunteers, what they should do and what not to do.Within the team, select one team leader who can organize the group meeting and inform the daily status to the Union Porishod leader. They advised to make a list for all 200 families and contact numbers and issue the entry and exit pass. That means without an entry and exit pass, no one can be allowed to enter the village.
The speakers also advised to distribute 20 families to each volunteer to monitor/ help. Each volunteer only communicates with 20 families per day and makes a list of anyone sick or any other major issues. 10 volunteers will serve the (20*10 =200) families. 3 Exit and Entry 6 volunteer, keep the entry-exit record.
