A total of 18,585 accused in criminal cases secured bail in last eight working days from the virtual courts across the country, including 4484 accused on Wednesday.
The courts granted them bail after holding hearings on the petitions through video conference, said a press release sent by Md Saifur Rahman, Special Officer of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court.
Saifur Rahman said that 28,349 bail applications were heard by the courts after those had been filed through emails in last 8 working days in the district and sessions judges’ courts across the country after the virtual courts functions had been incepted on May 11.
The courts on Wednesday disposed of total 7631 petitions and granted bail to 4484 persons.
